Rich Harbour

Rich Harbour recently celebrated his 50th year in business (1959-present). For the 50th anniversary he shaped a Limited Edition board as well as 5 curly redwood balsa boards. These boards weighed in at around 75 lbs!!!! Rich was kind enough to let me enter his shaping bay and document this process. Seeing these boards go from huge trees to pieces of art made me really aprreciate his shaping skills.. Rich is a great craftsman and it definitely shows in his boards. Check out these photos of him shaping Deans limited edition Curly Redwood board. During these photos I inhaled lots of wood particles while taking these photos..I should of asked Rich for a mask! haha.. - kuch
Hand Plane... hours of shavings..

..Hours of fine tunning!

..along with many gallons of glue.

Check all the wood dust in the mask! I breathed that all in ... SWEET ha!

The floor had mounds of shavings at the end of shaping sessions...

gotta let that glue dry!
